Folk at the Ferry, The Ferry Inn, Thorganby
Down by the River...
Nothing beats a fine summer's evening, with the folk club room's doors open and a fine sweep of lawn rolling down to the river. In winter it is a cosy room filled with performers, drinking real ales, wines, and the drivers behaving themselves on the ginger beer. The evening starts at 8.30pm, but it is recommended that arrival is between 8 - 8.15pm as the room fills up quickly. The evening is MCd and performers place their names on the list at the start of the evening.

History of Folk at the Ferry
Folk in Thorganby was started on a Tuesday evening at the Ferryboat Folk Club, by Phil Williamson and Dave. This proved popular and flourished, but it was suggested that it was held on a Sunday night instead. The First Sunday Folk Club had just opened its doors on the first Sunday of every month, so Phil and Dave thought it wise to leave a fortnight's break (for recovery and the learning of new songs) before holding Folk at the Ferry. This was a sound idea, and the folk club has remained on the third Sunday of every month ever since. The only time it moves is if it clashes with Whitby Festival week. The evening has gone from strength to strength, and provides a meeting place for friends as well as an excellent place to perform World Premiers of self-penned songs.
Christmas at the Ferry
